Main Purpose of Job

The Payroll Officer position is accountable for collecting timekeeping information, incorporating a variety of deductions into a periodic payroll, and issuing pay and pay related information to employees.

Qualification & Experience

  • Minimum of five CSEC subject including Mathematics;
  • Previous experience in a payroll department;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines;
  • Good math and communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Previous experience in a payroll department;
  • Strong Organizational skills;
  • Team player.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

  • Collecting and verifying payroll source information;
  • Entering employee information and payroll data into the payroll system;
  • Answering employee’s questions and concerns regarding payroll;
  • Calculating payable hours, taxes and deductions;
  • Issuing statements detailing earnings and deductions;
  • Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies;
  • Maintaining and updating payroll records;
  • Preparing periodic payroll reports;
  • Enter payroll journals.
