The University of Technology, Jamaica, School of Natural and Applied Sciences seeks to identify experienced professionals to fill the following positions:
o Lecturer – Biology/Anatomy & Physiology (Full-Time)
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess at least a MSc/MPhil Degree but preferably a PhD in Biology/Anatomy & Physiology.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have experience in teaching fundamental and advanced level Biology/Anatomy and Physiology. Should possess a minimum of at five (2-5) years’ experience lecturing in Biology/Anatomy and Physiology at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in a tertiary educational institution. The candidate must serve as an academic advisor to a selected group of students and be able to supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate research projects; design, conduct and mark laboratory experiments; be competent to teach the practices and processes associated with biology/anatomy/physiology; a commitment to combining research with teaching, and show evidence of successful educational practice as well as sustained professional engagement in their disciplines. Training in Education is also required.
o Lecturer – Biology/Anatomy & Physiology (Part-Time)
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess a minimum of a MSc/MPhil Degree in Biology or Anatomy & Physiology.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate should also possess a teacher training certification in teaching Biology/Anatomy & Physiology at the advanced level.
o Lecturer – Forensic (Part-Time)
The Lecturer in the Forensic will be responsible for lecturing student at the undergraduate levels in DNA Profiling, preparing written assessment for modules, designing, conducting and marking laboratory experiments, co-supervising undergraduate research projects as well as undertaking tutorial work with students.
ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should possess:
· a minimum of M.Sc./MPhil. Degree in forensic Science or Biology (DNA).
· teacher training certification and experience in teaching forensic modules such as DNA Analysis at the advanced level; and
· at least two (2) years lecturing experience at the advance level or at least five (5) years working experience in DNA Analysis.
